Chris is a lifelong Reno County resident who grew up in Hutchinson and has a deep love for the community he serves. He has been married to his wife, Lauren, for 10 years, and together they are raising five children. Chris has served as the pastor of Haven Baptist Church for the past seven years and previously spent five years as a youth pastor at Westside Baptist. He is a graduate of Hutchinson Community College, Manhattan Christian College, and Kansas State University. He is passionate about helping people grow in their relationship with Christ and building strong families. Outside of ministry, Chris enjoys cheering on the Chiefs, supporting anything Haven Wildcats, staying involved in his kids’ sports and activities, watching sports, grilling, working out, and spending quality time with his family. Michael Johannes serves as the Associate Pastor of Youth at Haven Baptist Church, where he has the privilege of investing in students and walking with them through all seasons of life. His greatest passion is seeing students take their next step in their relationship with Christ, whether that is the very beginning of their faith or continuing to grow deeper in it. Michael’s goal is to help students build a lasting relationship with Jesus that goes beyond youth group and shapes the way they live every day. He cares deeply about creating a space where students feel known, valued, and challenged to grow in their faith. When he is not at church, you can find him spending time with his wife Rebecca, cheering on the Chiefs and Mavericks, playing video games, or hanging out with their two dogs, Remi and Reggie.
